Charis & Ross | Danby Castle

Updated: Aug 12, 2019

Charis and Ross seem to have a special kind of magic. They’re gentle to each other, make each other laugh, and despite Charis’ habitual lateness throwing spanners into Ross’s 14 page strict wedding itinerary… they’re a perfect fit.  It was no surprise to me that their day was also a perfect fit for the two of them, bringing together the Irish (charm) & the English (weather!) for a day full of fun and love with an intimate, family orientated feeling.

Starting the day with Ross and his groomsmen, I arrived at their home to find the guys dressed and ready (this n.e.v.e.r happens… there’s usually shirts to be ironed, socks to be found and speeches to be finished… cough cough…). But honestly - 10/10 for organisation. After a few cups of tea and avid lint rollering, we parted ways and I set off to see the girls. The second I walked in the door, Charis gave me a huge hug and got me up to speed with introductions and the shenanigans leading up to the big day. A flurry of hair, makeup, excitement, champagne and a tidal wave of emotion when Charis stepped into her incredible dress… and we were on our way.

A little while later they stood at the end of the aisle declaring vows and giggling to Rev Pev’s anecdotes and puppets. There’s no such thing as TOO much confetti, they were seen off with a mountain of it by their excited family and friends.

We had a quick hop out of the amazing vintage jaguar for some photo’s at Roseberry Topping en route to Danby Castle - a fabulous countryside venue with never-ending views across the North Yorkshire Moors. When it came the speeches, I can almost guarantee that there won’t have been a dry eye in the house with Ross’s moving words and a reading of a beautiful poem written by his father.

Late night snacking on freshly baked pizza kept guests going to party the night away to live band The Fallen.

Watching a couple like this become family is one of the greatest joys of my job, and being there to document it?  Indescribable.
